Sapphire
The name sapphire comes from Greek “sappheiros” and it refers to the gm variety of mineral corundum.
They are single crystal form of aluminum oxide. It is one of the varieties of corundum, the other being red ruby.
Sapphire may be colorless and also it occurs in non spectral shades gray and black. Pinkish-orange sapphire is known as padparadscha.
