The diamond was found in the premier diamond mine of South Africa It is a fancy vivid blue diamond in heart shaped cut and color grading of Vs-2. The stone is the sixth largest blue diamond in the world. The heart of eternity name originated from the previous owner the Steinmetz group to 27.64 carat.

The Heart of Eternity was cut by the Steinmetz Group, who owned the diamond before selling it to the De Beers Group. Heart of eternity was exhibited at the natural history museum of the Smithsonian institution in the year 2003.
