The briolette of India is a 90.38 carats (18.08 g) colorless diamond found in India. It is a form of rose cut, a popular diamond shape in the past. The stone is popularly known as double rose cut and it comes under the category of Type IIa diamonds. The history of The Briolette of India diamond dates from 12 century and it was the oldest diamond on record in the world and even older than the famous Koh-i-Noor. The stone again reappeared only in 1950 and currently it is believed that the stone was under the possession of European family. The unique feature of the 800 years old cut briolette is that the beauty of the stone can be viewed from all sides and it is not restricted to a table.
