Smithsonian national museum of natural history is a natural history museum administered by the Smithsonian institution. The museum is located in the national mall of Washington, DC, United States. The museum opened in 1910 to provide the growing Smithsonian institutions with more space for collections and research. The total collection of the museum is over 126 million specimens of plants, animals, fossils, minerals, rocks, meteorites and human cultural artifacts. Admission for the museum is free and the natural history museum is opened for 364 days a year. The Smithsonian institution mineral and gem collection includes 350,000 mineral specimens and 10,000 gems.
Tiffany diamond, pearls, Carmen Lucia ruby and the splendor of diamonds are exhibited for the public and other gems like garnet, grossular, opal, fluorite, calcite, Quartz, amethyst can also be seen.
